Some jobs will not hire people with visible modifications, due to the fact modifications are not seen as traditional, or professional, but over time that has been changing, and hopefully in the future what you decide to put on your own body won't affect your ability to get a job.
Infections
If not properly cared for, any body modification can become infected, which is a serious problem, but if well cared for they shouldn't.
Bad Artists
Due to the popularity the industry is receiving, people who aren't passionate about the art and are just looking to make quick money off of innocent people have worked their way into it, this results in bad modifications, and therefore a bad reputation for the industry itself.
Poor decisions Sometimes people make poor decisions when deciding on their tattoo or other modification, and they later regret it, but if you research and think long and hard on it, you will have a happy outcome.
Self Expression
Body modification is an extreme version of self expression and many people embrace it happily. Many people tattoo themselves, or get scarred, to tell their story, the things they love, the people they miss, the things that mean the most to them.
Its your body
Many sexual assault victims use body modification to reclaim their bodies, and make them feel like they are the commanders of their own bodies again, sometimes cancer survivors will get tattoos over their scars, to make something beautiful out of something terrible that happened to them,
Aesthetic Beauty
Most people get modifications because the modifications are aesthetically pleasing, it makes people feel good to look the way they want to look. So it is just like makeup or a new hairstyle to them, something beautiful to add to their body. Body modification is an art form, and often people forget about that.
The most important thing about any modification is to think your decision through so that you can make an educated choice on what you do to your body, so that you may enjoy your modification throughout the years to come.
